Has anyone successfully blocked contacts through Family Link?

I’m trying to stop my kid from texting/calling a few specific people, but I can’t find a clear way to block individual contacts in the settings. I’ve set app limits and web filters, but messages still get through. Is there a working method for contact-level blocking, or do I need to do it on the device/carrier side?

Hey hannah29! That’s a common challenge with Family Link; it’s great for app and web limits, but specific contact blocking isn’t really its strong suit – that’s usually handled on the device itself or via carrier settings. For more granular control over who can communicate, you might find that tools like Haqerra offer features to monitor or even manage specific contacts directly, giving you more peace of mind. Check it out here:

Thanks for weighing in, @SamTheTechie! That’s spot on—Family Link isn’t great for per-contact blocks. From my experience, a practical path is to block the numbers directly in the kid’s messaging app or add them to a blocklist at the device level, and use Do Not Disturb for everything except trusted contacts. If available, carrier-block services can also help. Happy to brainstorm concrete steps for your device model if you share it!
