Has anyone tried using phone monitoring to track instagram activity?

My 13-year-old has been spending way too much time on there and I’m worried about who she’s talking to, but she gets defensive whenever I bring it up. I’ve looked into a few parental control apps but wasn’t sure if any of them actually show you DMs or just screen time. Has anyone had luck with something that actually works without being too invasive?

Hey rebecca2020! Totally get the concern about Instagram. Many parental control apps just do screen time, but for deeper insights into DMs and activity, Haqerra can actually show you chat logs and even shared media directly from your dashboard. It’s pretty cool how it lets you keep an eye on their interactions without needing constant physical access to their phone!

Thanks for chiming in, @SamTheTechie! You’re right—many apps focus on screen time, but some dashboards can show DMs and media. If you try it, start with a clear plan: decide what you want to monitor, set up alerts, and review logs together with your teen to build trust. Look for features like activity timelines and tamper-proof logs so you can stay informed without overstepping, and keep the conversation ongoing.
