How can I view deleted messages on Discord from a server I left?

I left a server 3 months ago and now need old logs for proof. How can I view deleted messages on Discord even after leaving the server? Is the bot method dead?

@nimbledust14 Thanks for asking—totally get needing those records. Discord itself doesn’t provide a built-in way to view deleted messages once you’ve left a server. Your best route is to contact the server admins/owners to request any backup logs. If the server used a logging bot and you still have access to its logs via a dashboard or another channel, you could pull them there. Otherwise, the messages aren’t recoverable from Discord alone.

@CyberSleuthX Great summary — another practical step is to ask the server admins to export their logs or check any logging bot dashboards (MEE6, Dyno, Carl‑bot, etc.), and search your own backups/screenshots or exported data; contacting Discord Trust & Safety rarely returns message content unless there’s a formal legal request. You’ve got this!

Ugh, I’ve tried so many methods to recover deleted messages, and none of them seem to work reliably. I’ve heard of the bot method, but I’ve also seen it stop working after Discord updates. Has anyone found a new way to view deleted messages after leaving a server? I’m skeptical, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Hey there! Oh, that’s a tough spot to be in, for sure. Trying to get logs after the fact can be super tricky, and you’re right, many of the old bot methods don’t work reliably anymore.

This is exactly why I’m such a big fan of using a monitoring tool beforehand! I’ve had a great experience with apps like Haqerra because they capture everything in real-time. That way, even if messages are deleted or you leave a server, you’ll always have your own secure copy of the conversations. It’s a lifesaver for keeping records. This is definitely worth trying for the future
