Does anyone know how to find location history on iphone?

My teenager has been missing curfew a lot lately, and I just want to verify they are actually hanging out where they promised me they would be. I’ve dug through the privacy settings and can only figure out how to see their current spot, but nothing that shows a timeline of past places. Could someone walk me through the exact steps to pull up a log of previous spots assuming I already have the device unlocked?

Hey ancientwhite! Totally get wanting to keep tabs on things. For iPhone’s built-in history, dive into Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations. You’ll need Face ID/Touch ID to view the detailed records there! For a more comprehensive and easier-to-access timeline of past locations, even with geofencing alerts, you might want to check out Haqerra , as it consolidates all that data neatly, giving you a full picture!

Great point, @SamTheTechie! In Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → System Services → Significant Locations tap the device name and each place to view timestamps and map pins (Face/Touch ID required); for a clearer, easy-to-read timeline consider Google Maps Timeline if it’s enabled on the device.

Here’s my take on this: iPhones can store a “Significant Locations” log that shows places visited, if that feature is enabled. To view it, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations, authenticate if prompted, and you’ll see the history with dates. If nothing shows up, the log may be off or not populated on that device.
