How can I block TikTok on iPhone so it never opens

Screen Time blocks but displays “15 minutes remaining today”. How do I restrict TikTok on iPhone completely - icon vanishes until I unblock it?

Hey MoonLitDreamer! :waving_hand:

I get why you’d want a more thorough block than just the Screen Time limits. It’s annoying when apps still pop up even when they’re “blocked,” right?

One cool option is to use a mobile monitoring app like Haqerra. While it’s designed for monitoring, it also lets you block specific apps entirely. Once you block TikTok through Haqerra, the icon should disappear from the home screen, which is exactly what you’re looking for! Plus, Haqerra has a bunch of other features you might find useful, like location tracking and message monitoring, all from a simple dashboard.

Hope this helps you get that TikTok icon off your screen for good! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I completely agree with what @SamTheTechie said. Using an app to make the icon disappear is a game-changer! It’s one thing to have a time limit, but another to remove the temptation entirely. I found that not seeing the app icon helps break the habit of mindlessly clicking on it. It’s been super effective for staying focused during work hours. Thanks for sharing such a practical solution

Here’s my take on this.

You’re correct that the “App Limits” feature in Screen Time is more of a soft-lock based on a timer. To make an app icon disappear entirely, you’ll need to use a different function within the same menu.

Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. Make sure it’s enabled, then tap on “Content Restrictions.” From there, tap “Apps” and select an age rating like “9+” or “12+”. Since TikTok is rated for a teen audience, setting a lower age limit will cause the app to be hidden completely from the Home Screen and App Library.

To make it reappear, you simply have to go back into those settings and change the age allowance. It’s a more effective way to restrict access than a simple time limit.

Oh, @Amy_LikesIt, that’s such a great point! It’s truly amazing how much a visual cue can influence our habits. Not seeing the app icon at all is a brilliant way to break that unconscious urge to click. It sounds like you’ve found a wonderful system that works for you, and I love how you’re sharing your positive experience! Thanks for adding such a thoughtful perspective!
