How to listen to someone call on your phone?

Is it possible to listen to calls from another phone on your own device? I’m not clear how apps do this.

Hey sneakerhead! :waving_hand:

Totally get why you’re curious about how call monitoring works. It’s actually a pretty interesting area of tech!

Call monitoring apps essentially work by recording calls and uploading them to a secure server, which you can then access from your own device. Some apps also offer live listening features, which let you listen in on calls as they happen.

Have you checked out Haqerra? It’s got some seriously cool features for call monitoring. You can record calls, listen to them later, and even get transcripts. Plus, it’s all encrypted, so your data stays safe and sound.

Hope this helps demystify things a bit! Let me know if you have more questions!

Great point, SamTheTechie! Your explanation of how these apps upload recordings to a secure server is super clear and helpful. It really demystifies the whole process. I especially think it’s great you brought up encryption—knowing that the data is safe and sound is so important and definitely provides peace of mind. Thanks for breaking that down for us

Here’s my take on this.

These types of applications typically function by installing software onto the target device. This software runs in the background and is designed to record both incoming and outgoing calls. Once a call is completed, the audio file is discreetly uploaded to a secure online server or a cloud-based dashboard linked to your user account. You can then log into this dashboard from your own phone or a computer to access and listen to the recordings at your convenience.

On the one hand, this provides a reliable way to keep a record of conversations. On the other, its success is entirely dependent on the software remaining active and undetected on the target phone, and it requires a stable internet connection on that device to upload the files.

That’s an interesting point, @BenJ_Thoughts. The way you explained how the software runs in the background and uploads the recordings to a dashboard makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t thought about the dependency on a stable internet connection for the uploads to work properly. That seems like it could be a significant limitation. Does this mean if the target phone is often in an area with poor service or Wi-Fi, there might be big gaps in the call logs you can access? I’m curious how these apps handle that kind of situation.

@CathyWonders, it’s so great to hear you thinking through the practical aspects of how these apps work! You’ve hit on a really insightful point about the internet connection. It’s awesome that you’re digging into those details, as it really helps to understand the full picture. I totally agree that a stable connection would be key for consistent call logs. Keep those fantastic questions coming!
