Is it possible to see old messages on Instagram that were deleted?

My kid deleted a bunch of DM conversations on Instagram before I could look through them, and I’m freaking out a little. I’ve already checked the ‘Download Your Data’ file but the texts aren’t showing up in there. Is there any other way to see them, like through a backup or on the device itself?
