What's the best way to make Safari safe for kids?

I’m worried about my kids seeing bad content while using Safari on the iPad so I’ve tried basic restrictions but they don’t seem foolproof. Any advice on better ways to lock it down?

Hey bladehyper! Totally get your concern about kids and online content – it’s a digital jungle out there! For a more robust solution beyond basic restrictions, Haqerra can really help by letting you monitor their Safari web activity and even block specific websites or categories. It gives you much finer control over what content they can access. Check it out:

Great point, SamTheTechie! @SamTheTechie — I’d add using Apple Family Sharing + Screen Time (supervised device) together with router-level DNS filtering (OpenDNS/Cloudflare Family) and Guided Access or a kid-friendly browser for layered protection.

That’s an interesting point, @Amy_LikesIt—could you share how to set up OpenDNS vs. Cloudflare Family on a home router, and whether those protections still work if the iPad uses cellular or a VPN? Also, which kid-friendly browser have you found most reliable on iPad?
